I went shopping at the Deer Park outlets after a good workout at the gym this morning.

Frank & Pat called us and asked us to join them for dinner. We ended up going to lola's in Long Beach and having a fun night. It was a beautiful summer night and we sat at a table in the front by the windows. It felt like we were on a tropical island with the breeze coming in the opened windows and all the palm trees around.

Went to lunch today with my friends from BOCES...Millie, Chris and Helen took me to Singleton's for my birthday luncheon. Always nice getting together with this group.

Busy day today~ I got up early and did many chores starting with sanding the spackling that Larry did in the den yesterday, replacing a strip of wallpaper in our TV room upstairs that Nico ripped, folding laundry, ironing, washing out the pool and refilling it for later, washing the siding on the garage and the back and side of the house. I had so much energy today...I didn't stop til it was time for dinner.

Today did not feel like a Sunday to me for some reason. Larry and I went to Bed, Bath and Beyond and picked up a new fan and coffee system along with some other household items that we needed. We have out of town family coming to stay with us at the end of the week and we wanted to prepare for our company.
We went to Jones Beach afterward and took a walk in the water and then relaxed and I read some of my book. It was another very hot day even down at the beach it was scorching!
Jenn was in the mood for some Mexican food so we went out to Cozymel's tonight for dinner.

Nico's 2nd birthday was held at Katie & Chris's backyard. They had a reptile show, pinatas, pizza, heros, ice cream cake and cupcakes. It was a very hot & humid day but the canopies and umbrellas helped alot. The kids all seemed to really enjoy the show and got to see several reptiles. Our grandson's 2nd birthday was a huge success and a great time was had by all.

Went to weigh in at Weight Watcher's since I missed my meeting last night........ I lost another 2 pounds!!!!!! That was a shocker since I didn't journal or follow the program this week. I'll take the gift and run with it. This really gives me more incentive to follow it this week....I'm getting close to my goal weight.

Went to Applebees for dinner tonight.

Took the kids for lunch at McD's to get out of the heat! While we were there we had a tremendous storm with heavy winds and rain. As soon as the storm came through the sun came out. Wantagh didn't get a drop of rain ...just heavy winds which left a tree down on the next block over from us.

Drove Nick, Kathy and Megan to Captree for the Seaford HS end of the year party.

Went to Palmer's for steak night and then back to Captree to pick up the partiers. They had a GREAT time on the boat. Nick supplied the music and got everyone up to dance. Everyone came off the boat saying what a great time they had.

Katie called me while we were on the dock to tell me that Great Neck schools will be closed tomorrow because of the damage from the storm...She will not get to say goodbye to her students (who are graduating) or to her principle Barbara (who is retiring). She will however, get more time to set up for Nico's 2nd birthday party which is on Saturday.

Hot day/ pool fun

We set up the pool early in the morning and by lunchtime it was warmed up and ready to go. I had gotten magnetic fishing poles and sea creatures for them to play with. They enjoyed it. Great way to stay cool and we'll be doing this alot this summer, I'm sure!
Katie and I worked on Nico's party favors tonight...We finished it all. Chris had gotten Thomas the Train whistles and rubber snakes for the party gifts. I made cute labels for each and we tied it all together with a ribbon.

Another hot day! We took the grandkids to Friendly's for an ice cream and then to the Dollar Tree for a few items. I told them that I was giving them each a dollar to spend, and Nana also wanted to add a dollar for each. They had fun shopping.... Sophia chose party napkins (for her brother's b'day) and a puzzle. Nico chose wiffle balls and a book about (big) trucks. I also bought them a few extra things to keep at my house for entertainment purposes!
When we returned home, Nick had left my birthday gift on the kitchen table....It was a gorgeous black and white, framed 8 by 10 photo of the kids in my garden. I absolutely love it! He really captured them so naturally.

We walked again with Mary in spite of the hot temps. We cut our walk short today because of the heat and I drove mary home after we rested and had a cold glass of water back at our house.
After I finished our shipments for the day, I took the kids out and let them run through the sprinkler to cool off. They loved it!

I did some shopping at BJ's tonight after dinner and picked up some items that we were out of. I also bought a beach carrier to make it easier to carry the umbrella's and chairs next time we go down to the beach.

Happy Father's Day

We had a barbecue on this scorching hot & humid day. Larry set up the little pool that we picked up for the grand kids. They played in it for awhile today. The kids bought Larry a new Keurig coffee maker as a Father's day gift. He has been wanting to get one for awhile...He was happy!

Today is my birthday!

I had a great day starting with breakfast... Jenn invited the kids over for bagels. After breakfast Larry took me out to buy my gift and it was a new camera for our trip to Disneyworld...(you can take underwater photos with it.) I had many calls from friends and family and I was happy about that.

I had some bad news this morning that another old friend from HS had passed away so I went to the Funeral home this afternoon to pay my respects. I saw many old friends that I hadn't seen in years.

Later that evening, my family took me out to dinner. I chose to eat at Fridays, because it's kid friendly and I wanted my grandchildren to be able to come with us. They were very well behaved and it was a fun evening. We had an ice cream birthday cake at home afterwards.

Called Pat and arranged to meet at Brady Park with our grandkids.
It was a very hot and sunny day at the park. Hunter and Ava were both there and had fun playing with Sophia and Nico. It was nice to get the cousins together to play, we've been wanting to do this for a long time. We talked about getting together more often for the next school year and maybe doing picnic lunches.
Lynn, Margaret and I went to St Williams scrapbooking tonight. It's always great catching up on each other's lives and getting a little scrapbooking done in between.

Took a long walk with the kids today. It was the morning of Richie's Funeral service, and since I couldn't go to it with the children, I did the next best thing and said the rosary and walked for a few miles. It was a gorgeous day and the walk really helped soothe me on this sad day.
Grandma and I took the kids to McD's in Levitown so they could play outdoors on the playground and have lunch. There we met a nice girl and her 2 kids who were the same ages as Sophia and Nico. The kids all played together and had so much fun. We sat and talked to Jackie for awhile and really liked her and her children. I ended up giving her Katie's phone # so they could get together in the future.
Went to Weight Watcher's with Jenn and lost another .02 lbs. Then to Palmer's for Thursday night steaknight and Tom and Kathy met us there.

Sleepover with Sophia! Katie has to be to school early for a field trip tomorrow so Sophia slept over. We made popcorn and watched "Shrek 2". (our tradition, to watch a DVD and eat popcorn)

Nico stayed at home and Katie will drop him off in the A.M. since he is a very early riser!

Picnic with Katie in Lakeville Park...It was a magnificent day...weather was picture perfect! Grandma packed a nice lunch in a picnic basket and we headed up to Great Neck and met Katie on her lunch hour for a lovely time. The park was beautiful, hidden in the neighborhood with such nice playground areas and tables. It also had a sprinkler area, which I let the kids run through for a while after Katie returned to work. It was a hot day and they dried off in no time.

What a wonderful time we had on this glorious day!

Walked with Mary and the kids today...Sophia had never met Mary before (she was always in Nursery school when we walked together in the past) When I told Sophia that we were going to walk with Mary today, she said
"Ma, is Mary going to bring her lamb?" *******I died laughing!
We stopped at Pat A's to see if she wanted to join us but she was busy.
Got some sad news last night that a friend of ours passed away in his sleep. Rest in peace, Richie H.

Had brunch at Lola's in Long Beach. We invited Larry's mom to join us. I finally got to use my gift certificate that Nick gave me for Mother's Day last year. We all enjoyed Lola's and will definately go back again, we enjoyed the atmosphere and the food.

Worked out in the yard for a few hours today. I trimmed the front hedges and the side yard hedges. I also raked and cleaned up all the trimmings. Great way to get my exercise in for the day!

Took the kids to McDonalds today, Larry stopped working early and wanted to help me out knowing that I must be tired after being out late at the wedding last night. Sophia ended up falling asleep on the way home and slept for over 3 hours at our house! We all had pizza when she woke up and then Larry carried her home all wrapped up in a blanket since it got so chilly out. We were very content to stay home and relax tonight!

Tonight we attended the wedding of Alyssa and John. (our friends Ron and Marges' daughter) It was held at a beautiful place called Flowerfield and we had a wonderful time. This is the first time we ever went to a wedding on a Thursday ! We stayed til the end which was one o'clock in the morning and didn't get home til 1:45am. We'll pay for it tomorrow since we both have to get up early but it was well worth it as we enjoyed the whole evening.

Today was Sophia's last day of school. Katie, Chris and I went to the end of the year program which featured songs from the beatles. Sophia did a wonderful job singing and we all enjoyed the show and refreshments afterward.

Chris ordered pizza for lunch and invited me over.

Washed Katie's cushions from her couch today. They came out pretty good except for the stains.
Took the kids to the park after lunch.
Went to Target for some shopping after dinner.

Monday June 7, 2010

Went for a walk with Mary C. and Nico today.
After picking Sophia up at school, I stopped in at the 5 and 10 and picked up another flat of impatiens. The one that I bought last week was so nice and healthy that I decided to get another one. Finished all the planting between Nico's nap, and after Katie came home, up until dinner. Feels good to be all finished.
Took the kids for lunch at Burger King and had them play on the outside playground for awhile. Later we planted Sophia's green bean plant that she had made in Nursery school.
Jenn & I took an hour long walk after dinner tonight!

We did the walk at Wantagh Park called "Stepping out to cure Scleroderma". So many members of our family came out to give their support! I hope that they can find a cure SOON for our lovely niece, Patricia. Afterwards, went back to Mike and Patricia's house for a nice luncheon.

Went out with Tom & Kathy to Point Lookout...met Debbie and Jay again out on the town. That was the second time in 3 days that we met them out! Had a fun night at "Alice's" and then dinner at the Lazy Pelican, where we met a Conan O'brien look alike.

Took Nico to the nursery to pick up a flat of sun loving flowers. I have one area in my back yard garden that gets plenty of sun. I picked up some red Salvia and yellow Marigolds. I think they'll look great together. Then we went to the Dollar Tree and one other 99cent store and picked up a few summery toys for the kids including bubble trays and butterfly nets.

Had a nice walk this morning with Nico and afterwards planted in the backyard.

Larry & I took the kids to the park when he was finished with his work for the day.

Chris took the day off to have Verizon Fios installed, so I didn't have to get up so early for the kids. I still took them for most of the day so that they wouldn't have to hang around the house for the instalation.
Finished all my planting in the front of the house.
Went to weight watchers and was happy to find out that after Memorial Day weekend and all ...I still lost another .06 lbs!
Went to steak night at Palmers with Larry & Jenn and met Debbie and Jay. We all had a very nice time together.

Took a nice stroll with Nico and Mary C. today. We walked for over an hour on this nice hot day.

Nico fell asleep and when we returned home I did some of my planting as he slept in his stroller.

Went out to Mom's this evening for dinner with all my sisters and Mom. We picked up Boston Market chicken for everyone. We had so much fun getting together that we didn't want to leave and ended up staying til about 11:30.

We planted Katie's 2 flats of impatience that I had bought her for a Mother's day gift. The grandkids "helped me". We got the two flats planted in no time. Sophia and I watered them while Nico was napping.

After we had lunch, we went to Brady Park to play. We brought our sand toys and they played a bit in the sand box. It was another fun day at the park.
