Katie invited Jenn & I out to lunch at friday's today... First we went shopping at Barnes and Nobles and bought a few books then headed to Fridays. It was a nice lunch and good to get out after being in the house for the last few days.

Had the kids over for a sleepover tonight! Sophia woke up around 1:30A.M. crying for her mother. It took Larry & I awhile to calm her down and convince her to wait til morning to see Mommy.

The blizzard was still going on this morning and ended up dropping over a foot of snow on us. We all shoveled our house and Grandma's house and then spent the day home relaxing. Sophia spent some time with us this afternoon and helped Jenn make some chicken soup. she was happy playing with her "lots and lots of paper" that she got for christmas.

We needed another day like this to force us to stay in and relax some more. Nick came over this evening for awhile.

Sunday, December 26, 2010 ~ Day after Christmas Blizzard

A great day to stay in and rest as we had a blizzard all day. I got to clean up after the Christmas day festivities at my liesure in between resting. Nico came over to spend the day with us and Sophia stayed home with her Mom and Dad content to play with her new toys.
Later Jenn and I relaxed and used our new ipads and jenn read with her "nook".

It was a wonderful Christmas... starting with everyone opening gifts together, and having breakfast. Had a housefull, as usual later that afternoon and it was a beautiful holiday. Both Mom's enjoy each other's company and it's always a blessing having them there with us. The younger generation enjoyed the turkey fry, outdoor fireplace, music and dancing. Doug did a rap for Johnny Isgro and that was a big hit. Everyone there enjoyed the day. We had our traditional dishes...Turkey, spiral ham, roast beef, corn casserole, sweet potatoe pie, lasagna, salad, baked beans (Jeannie made them at Joan's) Desserts were plentiful with homemade cookies by lenore, rice pudding by Joan, dirt pudding by Barb and a cheese cake made by Johnny I.
Wonderful day spent with a wonderful family. Matt C came by later and so did Michele and her boyfriend and sister.

Jenn and I went for manicures and pedicures this morning. Mary came over to see the kids and give them each a gift...They loved their gifts! Sophia got a Barbie doll and Nico got Thomas the train. Mary stayed for coffee and a nice visit.

Went to mass at 4PM and it was sooooo crowded that we had to stand by the doorway in the hall to listen to mass.

Had fun at Tom & Kathy's Christmas Eve party tonight!

Mary called to say she had a gift for Sophia and Nico. I didn't have the kids today since Chris was off and he took them to Brooklyn, so maybe we'll get together tomorrow. She misses seeing them since we haven't walked together in a while.

Put up my village in the kitchen by the bay window. I am so happy that I got to do this, I wasn't going to bother but I was in pretty good shape as far as getting the cleaning and straightening up done in the house.

Katie and the kids came over to deliver rice krispie treats and to visit for a while.

Stayed in tonight as Larry was tired and we ordered Subway heros for dinner.

Happy 60th Larry!

Today is Larry's birthday and it's a big milestone for him...he turned 60.

I went to Sophia's Holiday program at nursery school and really enjoyed it along with Chris, Katie, Sophia, Nico and Grandma Angie.

Did a lot of house cleaning this afternoon, then watched the kids at their house while Katie went to an appointment.
Ordered Frank, our neighbor a gift from Fine Foods and brought it over to him this afternoon. It was a platter filled with all kinds of meat, cheese, olives and roasted peppers. He was grateful.
Later we all went out to celebrate the big birthday at Pomadorino restaurant in Seaford. the little ones really were so good in the restaurant. Chris brought a DVD player for them to watch Shrek IV while we were waiting for our dinners. After dinner, we all went back to our house for birthday cake and coffee. Kathy and Tom had called me on my cell while we were eating dinner earlier and said they'd like to come by to see Larry, so they joined us for cake.

Got out early and took care of a number of chores. Had a few returns to make and got everything checked off my list including banking for Larry, shopping in Massapequa and picking up some groceries. Shipped Larry's packages and then took the kids for a few hours so that Chris could get a few things done.

Chris is on vacation this week so I will have extra time to get things done. After watching Nico while Chris drove Sophia to nursery school, I went shopping and bought a few of the items that I couldn't get yesterday, including Larry's birthday gift.
Wrapped some more gifts tonight.

I made beef stew tonight and Nick came for dinner.

Jenn and I went to Roosevelt Field Mall to try to finish up our christmas shopping early this morning. We beat the crowds and were finished shopping by the time the crowds had arrived. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get the most important gifts that I set out for because one store was too crowded with a line of customers waiting to get in and the other was closed and out of business.

Sophia came to hang out with us or a few hours today while I started to get my gift wrapping done.

Went shopping early with Larry at Sunrise Mall and bought a few gifts for the grandchildren. Mall was not too crowded when we were there, so it was a great time to shop.

Hung some more lights in the backyard to get ready for Christmas day. That's the place that everyone hangs out ( turkey fry, fireplace) and I thought we could use some festive lights out there.

Went to Palmers and Pat & Frank dropped in so we had a fun time with them.

Went to school with sophia to join in the gingerbread house decorating today... She did a great job with it and I enjoyed being there with her.
Went out to mom's to have a pre Christmas celebration along with my 3 sisters. we brought in Italian food and had a birthday cake for Karen. I hung photos on Mom's wall and it turned out pretty good!
