My daughters and I were supposed to go into the city today but Katie woke up with a stomach virus. Chris had taken 2 days off so Katie could get out for some fun time but it didn't work out. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Sophia spent the afternoon and evening with us as Nico started throwing up. We made dinner and baked cupcakes. She was going to sleep over but really missed her Mom and Dad so I took her home after American Idol.

Colored Easter eggs with Jenn, Katie and the kids. It has been raining for two days straight so it was a good indoor thing to do today. Later I made a pot roast and the kids came for dinner.

I did some scrapbooking tonight while we watched American Idol.

I organized my scrapbook scraps today... got the old P-touch out and labeled each color. It was fun organizing and it kept me busy for a few hours.

Jenn and I did some more shopping today. We went to BJ's and to the brand new Michaels. It is such a beautiful store and is very well stocked. I will get back there this week when I have more time to spend.

Second day in a row...Jenn and I started the day with a workout at the gym. Jenn has a 5K in 2 weeks and so do Larry & I. ( we walk/run it).
Jenn & I are off this week because schools are closed for Spring break.
We went shopping at AC Moore today ~we had 50% off coupons and a few giftcards to use. I bought a new cartridge for my Cricut (no coupon for them, but they were all on sale.)

We also picked up the groceries we needed at Stop and Shop and then went home and started making Benati's for dinner...It's Grandma Angie's recipe for a Meat pie using pizza dough, beef, tomatoes and onions. We substituted 1/2 of the beef with turkey. (No one knew the difference!)My son-in-law had dropped off an apple pie for us earlier in the day so we had that for dessert.

Later, I checked out my new cricut cartridge and got to do some scrapbooking.

Went to the dump today to drop off old paint and oil from our turkey fries.
Went shopping at Home depot for batteries and a few other things.~ got a nice plant for the back yard.

Had dinner at Houlihans with Larry & Jenn.

It was a very tiring day today, going out during the week is tough as we're getting older.
Larry watched the kids for me in the afternoon when he finished his work, so I could set up the printer on my laptop. Our computer crashed the night before and we had packages to ship. I was happy that it all worked out with my laptop.
We stayed in tonight and rented "The Blindside". Larry made pasta for dinner and I made garlic bread.

I walked in to my daughter's house today and found that my granddaughter had lined up every pocketbook, bag and backpack that she owned. (including her new picnic basket)When I questioned her about it she told me that she was going on vacation. I asked her where she was going on vacation, She said she's going on a world wide vacation. You can't make this stuff up!

Nice Surprise Today!

We had a nice surprise dropped off at our doorstep today!

My friend Lynn left a picnic basket for my granddaughter, Sophia.

Lynn had read on one of my blogs that Sophia enjoys picnics and was wanting a "beautiful picnic basket"... and now she has one! THANK YOU LYNN.

Took Mom to hearing aid center today and then out to lunch and food shopping.

Made a buuny project with the grandkids today. It was not a day to play outside as it was cloudy and chilly out. This was a nice way to spend some time...they enjoyed it. Nana came over and helped make the bunnies. This was a craft that I picked up at AC Moore the other night.

Monday, March 22, 2010

Made a delicious pot roast for dinner tonight!
It was a good night for comfort food as it was rainy and chilly outside. Can't complain though because we just had quite a few days of the most beautiful warm sunny days.

Sunday, March 21, 2010

Took a walk on the Jones beach boardwalk today. Another beautiful day in NY.
Had lunch on our patio when we returned. It was great to be sitting in the sunshine. We decided to call our Mom's and invite them out to dinner.

Later in the afternoon we took Angie and Jean out to an early dinner at the Snapper Inn.

So nice to have the two Mom's together! ~~~and that is my photo of the day.

Saturday, March 20, 2010

Worked out in the yard for a few hours... gathered twigs, threw away garbage and fixed the accent lighting and added two new uplights.
Jenn & I had a game of bananagrams while relaxing after yardwork.

Had a barbecue and made a fire in the chiminea and got rid of a lot of the twigs and branches that fell during the storm. Angie, Kate & Chris & the kids came for dinner.

Friday, March 19, 2010

Decorated inside and outside for Easter with the help of Sophia. Had a nice day... Nico went to his library program this morning (Aunt Jenn came with us as she was home from work today because of a migraine and had a Dr appt in the afternoon.) We had a pizza for lunch...Kids played out in the backyard as the weather continues to be glorious!

Back to the park today...

Sophia has been asking to go on a picnic so today was the day! Nana walked to the deli, picked up coldcuts and made us all a sandwich. Sophia wanted us to bring a"beautiful picnic basket". ( I think she saw that on Dora) We had a wonderful and carefree afternoon. We ate, watched the ducks, played on the playground and dug in the sandbox. I'm sure this will be a regular thing for us on nice weather days!

Katie had teacher conferences tonight so we kept the grandchildren till Chris got home. We took a ride to Jones Beach and afterward gave them baths so they'd be sand free from today's activities. photo of the day : my grandbabies watching the geese.

St Patrick's day

It was another gorgeous day today. Sophia had to stay home from school because she has strep throat. It was a job to try to get her to take her medicine! I took them out in the backyard today to get some fresh air and then for a ride in the car in hopes that Sophia would fall asleep and it worked! Katie has tickets for the circus tonight and I felt Sophias could use a little nap before they go out.

The Millers finally got their power back today after 5 days of outage. It must be great to be back home with heat and electricity!

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

Beautiful weather today! Took the grandchildren to lunch and to a local park to play. They love to take a walk to see the ducks, geese and swans.
That is my photo of the day.

Sophia went to Doctor today because her tonsil still looked swollen from last week and after all that time she now has strep throat.

Went out to eat tonight with Larry and then visited the Millers (in our guesthouse) to watch American Idol. This is the 4th day without power for them.

Monday, March 15, 2010

Made our reservations to go to the Scrapbook Summit at Simsbury Inn. Lynn and I always look forward to that weekend each year. This year we have decided to go a day early to extend the weekend and make it last longer. It is always such a fun time.
The Millers are still without power so they will be coming by tonight to shower and then Kathy & Megan will stay overnight again.
Worked on some scrapbooking tonight... and that is my photo of the day.

Sunday, March 14, 2010

Today was a day I look forward to each year. It was our annual girls day out in Manhattan with my friends from Tardy lane where we grew up. Each year the girls meet at my house and Meg picks us up and drives us to the city. We had heavy rains and flooding in my neighborhood and it was tough having to go around the fallen trees from last night's storm.

We had lunch at Cafe Fiorello and then saw South Pacific in Lincoln Center. Anne is turning 60 at the end of this month so we sang Happy Birthday and had a b'day cake for her.

That is my photo of the day.

Kathy and Megan stayed in our apartment tonight because they lost their power last night and it still hasn't been restored. They wanted to be sure to have a nice hot shower tomorrow morning.(Tom and Patrick stayed at their house with candles and lanterns.)

Went to the gym this morning with larry and had a good work out. I spent the afternoon hosecleaning including shampooing my carpets.

It was like a hurricane here today with many trees and wires coming down in our area.

We had plans to go out to dinner and had a hard time getting out of the neighborhood with all the fallen trees blocking the streets. Finally found a way out and met Tom & Kathy at "Absolute Mario's". It was a nice restaurant, we enjoyed the food and atmosphere.

Friday March 12, 2010

Katie took the day off because her tooth laminate broke off. She took Nico to his program and I took Sophia back to our house. Later Nico spent some time with us while Sophia stayed with Katie at home.

We had a pizza for dinner and I worked on learning to use my Cricut. I made a banner for St Patty's day and I love the way it turned out. That is my photo of the day.

Thursday, March 11, 2010

Stayed in today with the kids ---Sophia has a virus and that is why she's been tired lately. She will have to stay home from school tomorrow.

Had a dermatology appointment for a full body check. Everything went well, I just have to watch one spot on my ankle for any changes.

We picked up the new Sierra truck tonight and traded in my Infiniti.

Went to the local diner to have dinner and celebrate and then took a ride on the expressway to see how she runs!

Tuesday, March 9, 2010

Another beautiful day. Took the kids to a local park and they really enjoyed playing on the swings, slide and taking a walk by the stream to see the ducks, swans and geese.
Sophia, who hasn't napped in such a long time fell asleep in the car on the way home from all the fresh air and exercise she got.
I had an appointment tonight to have a facial. I really enjoyed it and found it to be so relaxing.
This was a gift from Jenn from last Mother's Day.

Photo of the day: My Infiniti~ This is my last day using it as I'm trading it in tomorrow when Larry gets his new Pick up truck
It was a great car for me for 7 years and I am going to miss it but it is time for an update. I'll be driving our Pathfinder now and although I might miss the luxury feel of the Infiniti I know this will be better with all the extra room for carrying the extras that come with grandchildren, like bikes, strollers etc.

Monday, March 8, 2010

Great weather today! After Nursery school and lunch I took te kids outdoors to enjoy the weather. I blew bubbles and the kids chased them. We read a book in the nice warm sun and the kids played outside for awhile. We went into the Moose Lodge ( our guest house ) and we watched Toy Story. I was happy that the kiddies were content and actually sat for awhile quietly. They've come a long way!

Sunday, March 7, 2010

Invited to go out for lunch with the kids today to a restaurant called Lounge Burger. One of the nice features at this place is that they offer hand held DVD players for the children to watch while waiting for their meal and while eating. We enjoyed our afternoon and lunch out.

In preparation for trading in my car on Wednesday, I cleaned out the Infiniti and transferred the 2 car seats to the Pathfinder as I will be taking Larry's car when he gets the new one.

I started cleaning out my scrapbook/ mosaic room today and that was a big project. I will be donating alot of my unused supplies when I go up to Simsbury Inn this May to an overnight crop. They collect donations for abused women for use at the shelters.

Saturday, March 6, 2010

Larry had an early appointment for a colonoscopy today. Everything went well I'm happy to say. While he was in there I had an hour or so to do some shopping so I went to a nearby AC Moore and bought a few things with one of my many gift cards. (photo of the day)
He was happy that all was well (and starving) so we celebrated and had brunch at the Grand Lux Cafe.

Later we went out to look for a new pickup truck and ended up signing on the dotted line. We will be the proud owners of a GMC Sierra truck by Wednesday. The salesman happened to be the father of one of Sophia's classmates at nursery school!

This evening Larry & I had a light dinner at the diner in town and relaxed in our TV room.
It was good to chill out tonight.

Grand Prize winner!!!!

Took Nico to his library program today and he loved it....the problem is that he loved it too much cause he didn't want to leave when it was time to go. Unlike his usual self he threw himself on the floor when I tried to put his coat on to leave. He wanted to take home the crayons that he was coloring with. Note to self: bring our own crayons next week. He cried all the way home yelling "NO". That was a side that I've never seen before with him.

Tonight was the scrapbooking fundraiser at St Willy's. I was the lucky one that won the grand prize which was a $250.00 giftcard to AC Moore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!( I had said at the beginning of the evening that I have a few giftcards to michaels that I haven't used yet because I have everything that I need already.) Leave it to me to win this one after making that statement.
Good night was had by all!

Overtime tonight

My daughter asked me this morning if I could possibly keep the grandchildren a little longer tonight as the new car they had ordered was finally in. ( with all the snow we had lately, all shipments had been delayed.) I was happy to oblige. Kate & Chris pulled up with their new Acura tonight and that is my photo of the day! I wish them safe and happy traveling in their new car!

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

Larry did the food shopping today and made dinner tonight. What's for dinner tonight?... Chicken soup and that is the photo of the day.
Tonight we are watching American Idol and I'm trying to get some laundry done.

Tuesday March 2, 2010

It was lunch and playtime at McDonalds today...
We stayed and let the kids play for about an hour or so and as usual they had alot of fun. Now Nico has a little independance and can navigate on his own.
Tonight Jenn went out with a friend for dinner so Larry and I decided to try the texas Roadhouse for dinner.
We had a nice time and food was good.

Photo of the day: kids coming down the slide at "Old McDonalds" as Sophia calls it.

Dinner with Mom

Today is Mom's 94th birthday. We had celebrated with the entire family over the weekend but we wanted to have dinner with Mom on her actual birthday.

Joan picked up chicken from Boston Market for dinner. Katie and Jenn and Sophia came along. Kathy, Karen, Sarah and Pat all joined us. Pat brought a cake and we sang Happy Birthday.

February 28, 2010

Had a nice breakfast with Jack & Nan. We made waffles, omelettes, bacon and banana bread. Katie came over with the kids and they finally got to play with Aiden and get to know their cousin. After breakfast Kathy came by and we all took a walk around the neighborhood before saying good-bye. Jack, Nan, Katie and Aiden then left for the airport to fly back to Georgia. It was a fun visit and we enjoyed their company.
