Sophia had a field trip to Tackapausha today and Nico had his library program. I was grateful that the two locations are one block away from each other since his program ended at 11:30 and I had to pick up Sophia at 11:30. Since we had to leave the library a few minutes early, they gave us the craft to make at home. We made it to Tackapausha in plenty of time to see Sophia and her class returning from their walking tour through the woods.

That's my photo of the day.
Larry & I went to Palmer's tonight for a light dinner.

My walking payed off! Successful week in Weight Watchers... I lost another 2.6 lbs.

Started my day with a workout at the gym... Katie was going in late to school because she had a 9 AM appointment at the dentist, so I had an extra hour in the morning.

Brought the kids to the park for another playdate with Dylan, a friend of Sophia's from nursery school. Great time was had by all on this very sunny & windy day.

Speaking of wind... Katie and Chris had their next door neighbor's tree come down during the night and land on their garage. They'll have to wait til it's removed to see if there was any damage. It was huge!

Nico came with me when it was time to pick Sophia up...he had already woken from his nap. They played on the playground for awhile. It's always tough getting them to leave there.

We had lunch with Pop and then headed back to their house and had them play outside for awhile.

Took a half hour walk after dinner. Tomorrow is weigh in.

Had a playdate with one of Sophia's friends from nursery school.

We were originally going to meet at the park but since it was a rainy day, we met at a local library to play. They did puzzles, played with many different toys, worked on the computer and had a great time. Nico also had a ball with all the trucks and toys available.

Jenn went out tonight so we decided to go to our diner and have a bite to eat rather than cook for the two of us.

Took a 35 minute walk after dinner through the neighborhood, afterall I do want to do good at Weight Watchers this Thursday. I feel like I'm in a good groove!

Another very rainy day today... After lunch, the kids watched a few DVDs in the Moose Lodge for a change of pace. We had popcorn and ice cream, so they were very happy!

Had one of my favorite meals tonight- chicken stuffed with broccoli and cheese. I added a few vegetables and brown rice and it was a great meal.

photo of the day: Larry walking the kids to our house. (each morning he stops working and comes down when it's time for me to drive Sophia to nursery school, and walks the kids back to our house to help me out. He watches Nico until I return from driving Sophia.)

Rainy, rainy day today. Larry arrived home this morning as Jenn was cooking breakfast. It was good to have him home again (although the House was so quiet and peaceful without him).haha
He was so tired that he even fell asleep during a visit from our grandchildren. He just couldn't keep his eyes open after the long drive home from Pa.
Jenn & I did shopping at BJ's and picked up a roast to make for dinner.
I got out for a 25 minute walk in the neighborhood after dinner tonight. I had my weight watchers pedometer on and after my walk wanted to check my distance and # of steps only to find that it was blinking on and off and had to be reset yet again. That's been happening too many times for me. This week I'll return it at my next WW meeting and get an exchange.

Started the day with a workout at tItaliche gym with Jenn. Did some house cleaning and laundry and caught up with a few things. Took a run to Home Depot because I needed some outdoor white paint and pressure treated 2 by 4's for my arbor. I sanded and painted the pole for my bird feeder. That was a start anyway.
Went to dinner with my mother-in-law tonight at a place called Absolutely Mario's. We have a tradition of going out to dinner together one night every time Larry is away at a car show.

Friday, April 23, 2010

Nico is starting to participate more in his library program and he is so gosh darn cute!
He is starting to sing along with the songs. especially "If you're happy and you know it"
Today's theme was all about bunnies and he loves the bunny craft they made today.
Took the kids in their backyard to play today... Aunt Kathy and Aunt Jenn stopped by for a visit and they all played Hide and Seek. Mommy came home and bought them ice cream from the truck & that is my photo of the day.

Earth Day

Happy Earth Day! We spent the afternoon at the park today and saw a few interesting things.....

First we saw a beautiful swan building and sitting in the middle of a nest... Just sitting very still and so tall. We were walking near the fence to get a better look at her and we heard the leaves rustling and looked down and saw a snake slithering by us with his forked tongue sticking out. Nico was scared and wanted me to lift him up. It was so fitting for earth day to see all af nature's creatures going about their lives. It was a glorious day and we enjoyed being out there today.
Lost another 1.6 lbs this week with Weight Watchers!!!!!!!

Took Nico with me this AM to a nursery nearby and picked up a vine for my new arbor. I ended up buying a Climbing Hydrangea. Thought of planting it today but decided that I want to permanently anchor my arbor first. I had only anchored it using the temporary method without realizing it. I have to go to Lowes or Home Depot and pick up some pressure treated 2 by 4's.

I'll take my time and do it right so it will be secure forever.

Took the grandchildren on an outing today... First out to McDonalds then to Cedar Creek. Larry finished up early and wanted to do something with the kiddies since he'll be gone for a few days to a car show. Nana also came with us. While we were there, we met one of Sophia's buddies from school and they ran around together and had a great time!

Idol tonight...I still like Lee the best although Crystal B is so undeniably good. GOODBYE Tim

Pleasant day with the babies... Took Nico for a long walk this morning while Sophia was at school. He fell asleep in the stroller.

Larry & I went out to eat, we both felt like having Mexican food. So Cozymel's it was! They have the best rice mixture that I've ever had! Enjoyed my chicken fajitas tonight.

Photo of the day: Grandkids enjoying their ice cream today.

Sunday, April 18, 2010

Slept late today for a change. It was nice not to have to get up and be anywhere in the morning. Jenn and I went to the gym after breakfast. Larry prefererred to walk at the beach instead of going to the gym.

Later we built the new Arbor that Larry bought me for Mother's Day. We placed it between the patio and the side yard where I have my hammock. I love it! I'll be planting some kind of vine to grow on it soon. I also transplanted some plants and bushes that had to be moved.
When I was finished, I got washed up and we took my mother-in-law out to Houlihans for a bite to eat.

Attended a bridal shower at Babylon Carriage House for a friend's daughter. Congrats to Alyssa, she'll be getting married in June.
I stopped at the Dollar Tree because I passed it on the way home and picked up a few things for the kiddies. Photo of the day: goodies I bought at Dollar Tree.

When I arrived home, my granddaughter was over with my daughter and my grandson soon followed. He saw my car pull up and made his dad bring him over to see us. They all stayed for a while for a visit.

Later, Larry, Jenn and I ordered chinese Food and we were content to stay in for the evening.

Got 1/2 day off today. My daughter's Mother-in-law came out to visit with the grandchildren.

So I called and made an appointment at HearX to have Mom's annual ear test and pick up her rechargable batteries. Joan met us there and we all went out to Ruby Tuesday's afterward and Joan treated us to a nice dinner. We went back to Mom's and talked for awhile. Had a fun evening.

Day at the park with grandkids. They both love being there so much and had a lot of fun. We brought their pails and shovels and they played in the sand as well.

Went to my weight Watchers meeting and am happy to say that I lost 2.4 lbs!!!!!!

Went to dinner to our local diner and then did some laundry.

Wednesday, April 14, 2010

Worked a bit in my garden today, added compost to a couple of beds to get them ready for planting. The grand kids played out in the yard for awhile.
Larry took over watching the kids after he finished his work for the day, and I did a few errands and had my nails done.

Had a great dinner of grilled chicken with Montreal Chicken spice. I sauted garlic and green beans and they were so good. We also had brown rice. I loved this meal and it helped me to keep on track with my Weight Watchers.

Looking forward to American Idol tonight.

Tuesday, April 13, 2010

It was Tuesday with Nana and we tried to go to "Old McDonalds" today but just as we started to take the kiddies out of their carseats, 3 huge busloads of school kids pulled up and started running into Mc D's. So we promptly put the kids back in their seats and headed back to our local BK.
Drove out to Commack with Larry to pick up the new mat for his pickup truck.

Pizza for dinner tonight! American Idol too.

Monday, April 12, 2010

Took a nice walk with Nico in the stroller this morning while Sophia was in school. He fell asleep as we arrived home. Great way for me to get my exercise in , now that the weather is so nice. Really trying hard to have a weight loss this time at my next Weight Watchers meeting this week.

Jenn and I also took a walk after dinner tonight. Wow**** two in one day!

Photo of the day: Nico this morning while getting ready to go out. He carries his trains everywhere!

Sunday, April 11, 2010

Went to gym today with Jenn and had a good workout. After showering Larry & I went to Home Depot to pick up a few things that Larry needed. I was able to get the shower gift that I needed for next weekend at the bed Bath & Beyond near Home Depot. While they were wrapping the gift, Larry & I went and had a slice of pizza for lunch.
Katie, Chris and the babies and Grandma joined us for dinner tonight.

Nico got tired and cranky so Chris took the little ones back home so Katie could have a peaceful meal.

5K race today!

We did the 5K race in Northport today. It was a sunny, cool & crisp day. The race was through a preserve in Northport and started at the Norwood Rd school. We took our time and enjoyed the scenery and Jean & Sal's company and as always we were the last to finish the race. Larry was up ahead of me and waited till I crossed the finish line before he crossed. Chivalry is not dead!
He heard me say that I didn't want to be the last one today! I had lagged behind while walking with Sal because he goes slow and likes to talk. After the race we all met for breakfast at a cute restaurant in Northport called Sweet Mama's. Lauren and her parents Jean & Sal, Liz and her parents, Sheila and Kevin and Jenn, Larry & I all had a nice time together and look forward to the next 5K and breakfast.

This afternoon I had an appointment for a touchup and trim at Harvey Allen Salon. We were all tired and content to stay in tonight so Larry grilled some burgers and chicken for dinner.

Friday, April 9, 2010

Larry had his new cap put on his pick up truck today...It looks great! Had it done at Trailer City in Commack.

Went out to Palmer's tonight. Had a few drinks and dinner while watching the ballgame.
Kathy & Tom came later. Couldn't stay out too late because we have a 5K tomorrow!

Thursday, April 8, 2010

Allergies bothering me today, the pollen count has been very high.

Let the grandkids play out in their backyard today instead of heading to a park. We played with their new pinwheels and bubbles that they got in their Easter (buckets) from me.

Went back to Weight Watchers tonight ...It's been about 8 weeks since I attended a meeting. Jenn and I bought the new pedometers and after dinner, we took a nice long walk to test them out.

Wednesday, April 7, 2010

Gorgeous day today ...It was up in the 80's. We took the grandkids to the beach with their new pails and shovels after Larry finished his jobs for the day. They were so content to dig in the sand ...it kept them busy for a good hour.

Jenn made Tacos tonight for dinner and again used Turkey instead of beef. Not bad at all.

Tuesday, April 6, 2010

Spent the day with mom and sister. We went out to Joan's and she served us a delicious lunch and we spent hours just talking and enjoying each other's company. We took a backyard tour and spent a little while outside in the sun. Mom took a little nap and Joan & I looked through photos and other things on the computer. We stayed for dinner and played Taboo for a little while.

Monday, April 5, 2010

Went through all my clothes today, and was able to get rid of enough clothes to fill a big bag (I'll donate them to Lupis Foundation.)

Had a picnic today at the park with Katie & the grandkids. Sophia finally got to use her beautiful picnic basket. As always, Nico enjoyed watching the ducks, swans and geese. We brought along their new pails and shovels and they played in the sand.

Tonight I went to ACMoore and Michaels and picked up a few things with my giftcards and a 50% off coupon. I bought a new scrapbook tote bag for my upcoming crop in May. My old one is a bit worn and I felt it was about time for a new one.

Easter Sunday

The kids had tickets for a show in NYC at Radio City so we had a quiet morning. I didn't even bother with an egg hunt or Easter baskets since we wouldn't be getting together at all in the morning. I made my stuffed artichokes and an apple pie to bring over to grandma's this afternoon. After mass I finished baking the apple pie in the apartment since we are having a problem with our kitchen oven.

We had a nice Easter dinner with the whole family together.(Larry's side of the family that is.)

Lenore's sister Elizabeth joined us today with her 2 children and we had a good time together. Her kids are so nice! Lenore had bought each of the kids a pail and shovel filled with little toys and goodies. The weather was gorgeous so we played out doors for a while.

Saturday, April 3, 2010

Took a ride out to the North Fork today with Larry & Jenn. We stopped at a few farm stands and picked up some vegetables and an Easter plant for Grandma. Ended up out in Orient Point and ate at a greek restaurant called Helenic that was great. Stopped at a candy store in Orient Point and picked up some goodies for the trip home.

Friday, April 2, 2010

Walked at Jones beach today... got to get ready for our 5k next weekend! We are walking/running it. Jenn and her friends run it and the parents walk it and we all go out to breakfast together afterwards. It works for me...We all get our exercise and we have fun doing it.

Jenn and I went for manicures and pedicures today then for a slice of pizza next to the nail salon.

Spent a wonderful day in the city with my daughters.

We started off at Carmines and had frozen cosmos then lunch. Afterwards, we took one of those tours on the high buses. (I've always wanted to do this). The weather was so beautiful that we sat up on the top in the open air. We went downtown on the tour and saw many sights such as Wall St and the bull, ground zero, South St Seaport. We had a fun tour guide, a little nutty at times but alot of fun and very informative.

The tour lasted over 2 hours, then we found ourselves hurrying back to Penn Station to make the 6:36 Train. I'm now happy to be home with my feet up and relaxing after a lovely day in NYC.
