February 27, 2010

We all got together today at Kathy & Tom's to celebrate Mom's 94th birthday. Mom had every one of her eight kids there with her. Don and Robin drove in yesterday from Virginia Beach and Jack & Nancy, Katie and Aiden flew in from Georgia on Thursday. Many of her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren were there.

Jenn and I made spinach Lasagna and meatballs last night for the party. We had plenty of good food and desserts. Angie came also to celebrate. It was so nice to spend the time together. It was a wonderful celebration for a wonderful woman. Happy Birthday Mom!

Shoveled snow this morning for a couple of hours. The snow was still coming down strong. Jack, Nan, Katie & Aiden arrived around 4PM ~~~ They rented a car last night and got a hotel after staying on the plane 3 hours after landing. They came over by ferry to Port Washington. After they took naps, we got pizza (Jack's first choice when arriving in New York) and ate in the living room with a fire going. We had a nice evening playing with the baby and chatting.

Another snowstorm blasts New York!

My brother and family had a flight from Atlanta to Laguardia tonight and because of the bad weather, it was diverted to Hartford Connecticut. They don't know where they'll end up tonight, but I hope they can get a hotel and not have to sleep at the airport. They're traveling with their daughter and 2 year old grandson so it could be quite hectic with the baby. Poor little guy!

We're expecting 6-10 inches of snow over night. Hope schools are closed so my 3 children (all teachers) don't have a rough commute tomorrow.

Wednesday, February 24, 2010

My daughter's mother-in-law came out from Brooklyn to visit the grandchildren, so I only watched them until 12:30 today. With my free time this afternoon, I cleaned the guest house to get ready for my brother and his family who are due to arrive tomorrow from Atlanta.
(weather permitting~~~snow is expected tomorrow) I also got my food shopping done for the weekend. Mom's 94th Birthday will be celebrated on Saturday at my sister's home and we'll all be bringing a home cooked dish. I'll be making spinach lasagna and a pot of meatballs.
We watched the men perform tonight on American Idol. My favorite so far, was Lee Deweyze!!!!!
I thought he he had a great voice and loved his style of performance.
P>S> Casey James is looking good too!

Took my grandkids to play at McDonalds and have pancakes and sausages. (another rainy, rainy, dreary day) Nico usually can not go up the slide area and is always content to hang out below and run around a bit.~~~~ BUT today this Grandma went up with him and showed him the "ropes". That's all he needed and after having me help him up 2 times, he was on his own and there was no stopping him. He was so proud of himself and was looking for applause each time he came down the slide. It was such a cute site to see him playing with his sister and the few friends they found this morning. Big milestone for him today!
We watched American Idol tonight and while watching it, I did some scrapbooking. I got a 2 page layout on Halloween done. That is my photo of the day.

Here's a photo of my grandson sleeping. This is his daily naptime. Today he fell asleep while I was holding him but he usually goes to sleep in his crib or the "pack and play" at my house. I just enjoyed holding him so much today that I didn't rush putting him in.
After all he won't be a baby forever!

Headed home today from Pa. It was a nice get-away. Good trip home -not too much traffic so it was a pleasure.
Took Sophia and Nico for a walk to Nana'a house. They had fun playing hide and seek throughout the house. Nana really enjoyed the visit too.

Went for dinner at Miller's Ale house with Larry, Mom and Jenn.
It was a nice ending to the weekend.

Pennsylvania

Larry & I decided to get away to Pennsylvania today. We visited Cabela's and had lunch at the Crackerbarrel. We headed to Hershey and did the tour at Chocolate World. When we were done there we decided to do some shopping at the outlets nearby. I found some nice boots at Clarks and Larry bought some shoes. I found a scrapbooking store as we were leaving the outlets and picked up some Halloween paper. Afterwards we checked into a hotel and ate dinner in Leeds.(a restaurant Larry always talks about~~~ where he eats during the Hershey and Carlisle car shows)

February 19, 2010

Went to the gym with Jenn today and had a good workout.
Visited with Katie and the kiddies and took Nico back to our house to play for a little while.
Katie took Nico for a haircut at Orly's treehouse. He looks adorable with the short haircut!
Stripped the bed at the Moose lodge (our guest house) because we are expecting company next week from Georgia. Took down the holiday decorations that had been left up there since christmas.

February 18, 2010

Did some unpacking and laundry, then took the kids to Friendly's for lunch. Watched the babies for a while today because Katie had a dentist appointment. The kids had fun coloring with markers.

February 17, 2010

Had a fun time in AC. Had breakfast again in Mansion Cafe'. Then ran over to Taj Mahal because I found two tickets in my fanny pack from 2004 worth $25.25! After avoiding eating meat at breakfast by having just hotcakes , I ended up getting a burger at a rest stop on the way home.
Nobody rememered that it was ash Wednesday until we saw a few people walk by with ashes.
Saw my babies when I got home for a little while. (missed them so).

Happy Valentines Day

We had a lovely Valentines day breakfast this morning. Grandma and Katie, Chris, Sophia and Nico came over. Chris helped make the waffles and Larry made bacon and omelettes. It was a delicious breakfast and we celebrated with mimosa's as well.

I worked on getting laundry done while Larry watched the Daytona 500 and took a nap. I have to get ready for Atlantic City. I'll be going with Joan and Ron now that Joan is feeling better from her bronchitis. Since Larry couldn't make it, my Mom is coming with us. It will be great to spend so much time with her. She's going to be 94 in 2 weeks and she still loves going to Atlantic City.
My bags are packed, I'm ready to go.

New haircut!

I got a much needed haircut today and I feel so much better now. I have to remember to make my appointment every six weeks from now on.

Larry and I went out for a nice pre Valentine's Day lunch at Ruby Tuesday. We both ordered the combination salad bar/miniburgers. It was such an enjoyable meal and just the right amount, not too much where you felt like you over ate.

We stayed in tonight and watched the Olympics and had leftovers for dinner.

Tomorrow we will be having the family over for a Valentine's breakfast.

Friday, February 12, 2010

Nico had his program at the library and had a Valentine's party after the stories and craft.(valentine) Sophia also had a valentine's day party at Nursery school. We ate lunch with Pop and then went back to the kids house so Nico could take his nap. While nico was sleeping, Sophia looked through her goody bag from school.
We stayed in tonight and ordered a pizza and watched the opening ceremony of the Olympics which is in Vancouver this year.

We ended up with around a foot of snow, which meant alot more shoveling today. Two boys came to the door with shovels...I hired them right away. They did a good job and then.... the snow plow came. Larry went out and redid the end of the driveway so finally it was clear.... and then the snowplow came again....I finished it up by redoing the end of the drveway and the end of the front walkway. NO MORE sNow plows!!!

We built a snowman after lunch at the grandkids house. Nico kept taking off his gloves and playing with the snow, then crying cause his hands got cold. Sophia buried the carrot for the snowman's nose somewhere in the snow. Oh well I'm sure we'll find it by springtime.

I started my day by getting up early and painting 3 doors and moldings upstairs. Then I felt good about playing the rest of the day.

SNOW DAY

The blizzard of 2010... Went to Katie's to hang out during the snow storm. We played bananagrams (when Nico took his nap) and snacked all afternoon.
Took Sophia back home to cook a pot roast and make banana bread. We had fun playing and making pictures using stickers while we were waiting for dinner.
Katie came later to have dinner & pick Sophia up. ( We sent Chris a dinner to go) Larry, Jenn and I went out after dinner to shovel snow and clean off the cars.
Unfortunately Jennifer has to go back to work tomorrow but Katie and Nick have another day off. I will look forward to building a snowman and giving the grandkids sleigh rides tomorrow after the storm has ended.
As of now, the snow is still coming down very heavy. I'm sure we will have to re shovel again tomorrow morning.

Tuesday, February 9, 2010

Took the grandkids out for breakfast at McDonalds with Nana. We enjoyed our pancakes and sausage. They had such a fun time playing with some children that they met in the play area.

Irene came out from Brooklyn to visit so I was home early today.

Larry & I did some errands and picked up more paint so I can work on finishing the painting during the snow storm tomorrow. We already got word that the schools will be closed with 12 to 18 " of snow predicted.

Went out tonight to ACMoore to do some shopping... came home with another train for Nico. Emily is my photo of the day.

Big day today! I have a new grand niece~Madison Ann Lazzaro checked in today weighing 7lbs 14 oz. Congratulations to my sister... she has a new granddaughter! Finally a little girl in her life!

Went to the dentist and finished up with him. I've been dreading it and putting it off for 3/4 of a year! It feels good to finally be done with my dental work for a while.

Long Beach Polar Bear Club Super Bowl Sunday Splash

Went to Long Beach for the Polar Bear Club Super Bowl Sunday Splash for Make a Wish Foundation... Nick, Sean and some of their friends were taking the plunge.

They had a breakfast at their apartment before the event. We all walked down the boardwalk and watched the craziness! It was so cold out there. It was a great turn out and a very worthy cause.

Saturday, February 6, 2010

Today was another day of painting for me.
I sanded and painted 4 more doors and moldings in my front hallway and dining room.
We're getting there. I'm saving so much money for my husband ...maybe he should buy me some thing really nice for Valentine's day !

Friday, February 5, 2010

Took Nico to his program at the library for the second week. He fell asleep in the car on the way over but woke up after the first story. He made another cute craft which was an umbrella since today's theme was all about weather.

Tonight LarrY & I went out for our "2 for twenty" at Applebee's.
We're expecting a snow storm by tomorrow so figured we'll get out in case we're stuck in the rest of the weekend.
We're all set if we get the storm...Larry went food shopping after work.

Thursday, February 4, 2010

Stayed in all day today as Nico wasn't well. He was a happy lil guy today in spite of his ear infection.
Went to Weight Watchers tonight and was pleasantly surprised when I lost 2 pounds this week. I can't say that I worked hard on it, I didn't journal or put much effort into it. Perhaps it was the 5K walk I did on Sunday.(haha)
photo of the day: wreath hanging in my bathroom that was purchased years ago from a craft store. I'm running out of ideas to photograph and thought this was something old that I've never gotten tired of.

We woke up to a dusting of snow today. ~photo of the day

I noticed that Nico was touching his ear today and a little bit unbalanced ... he bumped his little head on a a few things during the course of the day. Katie took him to the doctor after work and sure enough...He has an ear infection.
Tonight I had to make a change... the pharmacy that I had been using for many years failed me one too many times and I switched to another pharmacy and boy what a difference in service! They were so helpful and were able to take care of me right away in a very professional way.
The old pharmacy often didn't have meds in stock and you always had to wait til they got a shipment. They had an attitude as though they were doing you a favor and often seemed short handed and flustered. I am very pleased with my decision to change.

Tuesday, February 2, 2010

We had a fun day. Nico had a little cold today so I was unsure of the best way to spend the day. I had packages to ship for Larry so we walked down to our house. I fed them lunch and shipped my packages. Later, Larry & I took the grandkids to Mcdonalds ( Sophia calls it "Old McDonalds")for ice cream and playtime.
photo of the day: Sophia & Nico in front of my house ( Men were working in the road down the block and put a sign up.)

February 1, 2010

After lunch, I decided to take my grandchildren back to their house to play in their basement. It's always the best area for them, as they're very content and I can sit on the comfy sofa while they keep themselves busy.

On our way back home, they always love to circle the double Oak tree in front of our house...They love it if you chase after them! Nico for some reason always lays down in the pachysandra.
